My Fake Fiancé story #1 from Wedding Flirts! 5 Romantic Short Stories edition by Lisa Scott Romance eBooks

What I like best about Lisa Scott’s stories is that they are clean romances; her stories concentrate more on the deeper lover rather than the physical lust. And I’m glad to say that this was another good one.

This story was just a repeat of movies like The Wedding Date and, of course, My Fake Fiancé, with the same premise—two people trying to fool family/friends with a sham engagement and, accidentally, falling in love in the process.

For Sam, this all begins when she is invited to her frenemy’s wedding. Eek! How perfect that she happened to hire an actor to play the part of her fiancé. But it turns out that Justin was indeed perfect in far more ways than one, especially when it was indicated that “It’s very important to see how a man treats the other women in his life.” (109) SO TRUE!

Filled with smart and witty commentary within the POV’s of both Sam and Justin, this is a sweet, well-written romance.

My Fake Fiancé story #1 from Wedding Flirts! 5 Romantic Short Stories edition by Lisa Scott Romance eBooks Reviews

It was a very short story but that shouldn't mean that we shouldn't have time to connect to the characters. They were just words on paper and it wasn't believable that they ended up married so fast. It wasn't horrible but it wasn't amazing either.
This was a perfect read for a quick escape into romance. The story flowed smoothly, alternating between two point of views, and came together nicely at the end, although a bit rushed and predictable. It wasn't engaging enough to make me jump at another work in this series. Perhaps a bit of a cliff hanger on the end, (instead of an assumable happily-ever-after, mom included) would have done that for me.
Somehow, I always fall in love with the short stories more than the full length novels. I believe it is because you have so little time with the characters that it leaves you wanting more so you always go back to read the novel again just to see the characters again.

The main guy is very endearing because he is so awkward, but in the end the main girl doesn't find it all that bad, so everything's good!
This well written short story is the perfect read for those times, for example, when you are sitting in a waiting room or just have some down time at home. Although predictable in its plot, the characters are well drawn and remain true to form. The "frenemy" is appropriately unlikable; the main characters friendly and interesting--people you would enjoy spending time with. All-in-all, the story was enjoyable and just right for the rainy afternoon when I read it. My only disappointment was that I thought I was getting all five short stories, not just one. So now, I guess, I just need to track down the rest of the series.
For a short story, this was an ok read. It is a predictable romance happily ever after ending. I liked the characters but they're a bit forgetable. They remind me too much of all the other contemporary romance characters. And there was more telling in this story then needed. I think Lisa could've stuck with Lisa's point of view and done without Justin's point of view. By doing so she could create more show on the character's feelings. And there would be more room to describe the couples kissing and sex scenes. This was more G rated in that area as we're just told in one sentence about how affectionate the couple is, let alone their sex life. Still, this was an ok very quick read for a short story.
For a short read, this was a very delightful story. It is part of an anthology of five short stories called Wedding Flirts all by the same author.

Samantha is twenty-nine and dreads wedding invitations, but specifically the one that comes almost at the last minute from an old frenemy from high school that used to love one upping her. Samantha has a cunning roommate who has made the bridesmaid role her calling and dreams of getting into the wedding industry as a coordinator. She suggests that Sam go out and pay a hot guy to be her date and rub it in Carrie's face.

Sam finds Justin working as a waiter where her friend bartends and he needs the money so he accepts the challenge. Soon Justin has his own reasons for needing this pretense too shortly after he gives his hopeful mother a lie about having a girlfriend to keep her spirits up.

The two of them set out to trick various people and discover to their surprise that they both secretly want to keep up the pretense while worried that the real Justin and Samantha aren't what the other is looking for.

I found this a sweet, satisfying short story and found the two main characters really worked. Normally, I have issues with the author either cramming too much or not enough into a short story page count, but this one was well-written and a good read when you just need a pick me up story with not much time for reading something longer.
I have liked all of the author's other works so far but this one was disappointing. My first issue is that the book was written in first person from both the main characters. It was hard to follow who's mind I was reading and which one was leading that section. The overall story was good, but certain aspects just didn't make sense.

The hero was 32 however he felt like his parents divorce was his fault. As a teen I could see how he would feel that way, but as an adult surely he knows the fault lies with his father not him. The hero doesn't have kids nor has he ever been married, HOWEVER, adults who are old enough to have kids of their own and be divorced should know the child is never responsible for the parents. This was a spoiler in the book for me. Instead of having guilt issues, the hero should have had a major pet peeve against lying cheating scumbags.
What I like best about Lisa Scott’s stories is that they are clean romances; her stories concentrate more on the deeper lover rather than the physical lust. And I’m glad to say that this was another good one.
